33-year-old female patient with congenital scoliosis. Hemivertebrae at L1-L11 with a 134 degree curve. The patient, from one of the poorest parts of the Dominican Republic, was born with this condition and lived life with a short stature. She had progressive deterioration of activities of daily living and was unable to walk. The surgery was performed with limited resources due to the conditions in the Dominican Republic. The patient underwent a T11-L1 vertebral column resections (VCR), stabilization and cage and the curvature of the spine was corrected from 134 to 50 degrees.
Post-surgery, the patient was significantly taller and decided to renew her vows with her husband, now able to stand tall.
