Female patient in her 60s with progressive bilateral lower extremity radiculopathy to the top of her thighs. She underwent extensive multimodal conservative therapy over four to six months including physical therapy and injections. She had deterioration of all of her activities of daily living and gastro-intestinal functions. Imaging was performed and revealed severe spinal stenosis secondary to broad based disc herniation, severe facet arthropathy, and grade 1 spondylolisthesis at the L3-4 level.
The patient underwent an L3-L4 XLIF, posterior decompression stabilization and fusion.
The surgery was performed in one setting in under an hour.
Post-operatively, the patient had complete resolution of symptoms and her recovery is going well.
