West Islip, NY— June 25, 2021 — SpineCare Long Island this week announced the appointment of Salvatore M. Zavarella, Co-Founder of SpineCare Long Island, to Chief of Spine Surgery and Associate Chief of Neurosurgery at Good Samaritan University Hospital, West Islip, New York.
Advancements in quality and patient safety
In a press release, John W. Francfort, MD, FACS, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Good Samaritan University Hospital, expressed the departments hope that the appointment would “advance the quality and patient safety platforms at our facility”.
Focus on deformities, minimally invasive and revision surgeries
Dr. Zavarella’s clinical expertise is in the treatment of complex spine tumors, adult degenerative deformity and scoliosis, herniated discs, spinal fractures, spinal stenosis, disc arthroplasty, minimally invasive spine surgery including lateral spine surgery, peripheral nerve tumor surgery, and brain tumor surgery including awake surgery for metastatic and primary brain tumors.
